BIO CEO 2012: Summary
Monday and Tuesday this week saw the 14th Annual BIO CEO conference in NYC. The event facilitated over 1,300 meetings with 380 investment companies of various shapes and sizes being pitched by public and private biotechs - all hoping that 2012 will continue on a positive trend http://bit.ly/yn5GZ2. BIO also presented some survey results stating 56% of investors think biotech is a good bet for the year - well all right then boys put the money on the table ;)
Zoomedia clients presenting included Achillion, Ambit, ARIAD, Cleveland BioLabs, Cytokinetics, DURECT, Geron, ImmunoGen and Rigel.
The program also featured expert panels and the rather quaintly labeled "Fireside Chats" with John Milligan from Gilead and Mikael Dolsten who runs global R&D at Pfizer.
The conference had, of course, its own hashtag on Twitter #BIOCEO2012 but not a whole lot of participants. About 20 people tweeted throughout the two days including a nice mix of analysts & journalists - @rleuty_biotech, @adamfeuerstein, @RobTheStreet, @JohnCFierce, non-profits and advocacy campaigns - @pkuawareness, @JDRF, @MichaelJFoxOrg, @ChildrensTumor, @ALSTDI and companies - @Novozymes, @HorizonPharmCEO, @NeoStemInc, @lexpharma, @Alnylam, @AcordaNews. Adam Feurenstein @adamfeuerstein - one of the strongest "brands" in biotech, covered the meeting with a live blog http://bit.ly/x9fGb6 as he does at most of the important conferences these days.
If you couldn't be there the presenting company webcasts are online http://ht.ly/979bG
