Mr. Levine has been an entrepreneur, technologist, writer and producer for over twenty-five years. In the 1980s, he worked as a science writer for healthcare and public relations firms in San Francisco and New York, focusing on emerging biotechnology and life sciences issues. Mr. Levine also developed feature film projects for independent producers and wrote about politics and science for national publications, including Rolling Stone. From 1986 until 1994, Mr. Levine developed film and television projects for Warner Brothers, Disney, Universal Studios, and CBS Television in Los Angeles. In 1994, Mr. Levine founded Zoomedia, Inc., in San Francisco to provide new media communications technologies to biotechnology companies. He served as its President and CEO until 2004. He has continued to serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors, focusing on new business opportunities. From 2005 to 2007, Mr. Levine also served on the Board of Directors of MediaOne, the largest independent television and broadcast facility in Northern California. Mr. Levine is currently developing long-form entertainment and educational projects for broadband distribution, and acts as a consultant to start-up ventures. Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Mr. Levine graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota with a B.A. in Asian History and Languages, and has lived and taught in both Hong Kong and Japan. He currently resides with his family in San Francisco.
John A. Pritzker founded Red Sail Companies in 1988, which includes Red Sail Sports and Mandara Spa, LLC. Mr. Pritzker has served as Red Sail’s President since its inception. He also serves on the board of Key3Media Group, Inc., a publicly traded owner and producer of such trade shows as COMDEX, N+I, and Seybold Seminars.Mr. Pritzker served in various executive positions within Hyatt Corporation over a 22-year period. He is also President of Hyatt Ventures, Inc.
As President & CEO of Zoomedia, Barbara is responsible for continuing Zoomedia’s leadership in life science communications, and for providing innovative marketing, branding, and communications programs that combine traditional and new media expertise. During her eleven-year tenure at Zoomedia, she built the Zoomedia brand and client-base and has become a recognized biotech communications expert. Prior to joining Zoomedia in 1997 as a production manager, Barbara had a successful career as a stage production designer, including a five-year stint at the Abbey Theater in Dublin, and an event producer. She graduated with honors from Central St. Martins College of Art in London. Barbara is a member of MayBAC — San Francisco Mayor Newsom’s biotech advisory committee — and Chair of the membership committee for BayBio, the Bay Area’s bioscience trade association.
