San Francisco, CA - October 15, 2008
Zoomedia recently launched the new website for the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF), www.pdf.org. The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation engaged Zoomedia to create a new website that supports the organization’s rich 50-year history of serving people with Parkinson’s disease (PD), their caregivers and families through funding promising research, providing educational programs for the community and advocating for the nearly one million people in the US living with the disease.
To support PDF’s mission, Zoomedia launched a website that both facilitates PDF’s research programs and provides valuable information about Parkinson’s disease to the community. It features a grant management tool that will expedite both the submission and review of PDF-funded grants – high caliber initiatives that study the cause(s) of Parkinson’s and work to find a cure for the disease. The new site also provides people with Parkinson’s, caregivers, healthcare professionals and researchers, with access to the most up-to-date facts about the disease, including a system to directly email PDF’s information specialists with questions about PD.
Not only does the site provide basic information for those newly diagnosed with PD, but it also offers tips for living with and living well with a chronic disease and opportunities to become active in the PD community. For instance, community members are invited to submit contributions to the Creativity and Parkinson’s Project, a gallery of artwork created by over 200 people with Parkinson’s that explores the therapeutic value of creativity in Parkinson’s.
Robin Anthony Elliott, Executive Director of PDF, noted, "Zoomedia is a great partner for PDF, bringing passion and commitment to their work that supports our mission to fund promising scientific research and support people with Parkinson's. They provide both the creative and technological talent we need to operate our research grants programs and to successfully serve the Parkinson’s community."
