Promoting Cures by Building Online Patient Relationships at BayBio’s Doing Well by Doing Right Conference
March 26, 2008

With the emergence of consumer-driven healthcare and increasing scrutiny of direct-to-consumer advertising, there is a demand for patient education programs that deliver informative, unbiased content. There are also many questions about Health 2.0 and how companies can use blogs, communities, and interactive tools to help patients looking for support and information online. As consumers take more responsibility for managing their health, companies have an opportunity to deliver real value and form lasting relationships via well-designed, coordinated educational campaigns.

At Zoomedia, we use our insight and expertise in the life sciences to build patient and physician social networking platforms that deliver accurate and current information while providing these audiences with the opportunity to raise questions and create discussion. An example can be found at the Epilepsy Therapy Project’s campaign at www.epilepsy.com.

To further explore these issues, Zoomedia will be moderating a panel discussion entitled “Promoting Cures but Building Online Patient Relationships” during BayBio’s 2008: “Doing Well by Doing Right” conference taking place in San Francisco on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 9:45 AM.

Panelists include:

  • Cheya Pope, Associate Director of Patient Advocacy, Genomic Health, Inc.
  • Charles Renfroe, Director Professional Alliances, LifeScan
  • Betsy Levy, Principal, BPR Communications

Topics:

  • How to effectively build long-term trusting relationships with patients through educational channels and when to use Health 2.0 technologies
  • How industry can benefit from web 2.0 by engaging patients
  • The importance of physicians and media to be in an open discussion that benefits all and what might happen if industry doesn’t accept the challenge

Look forward to seeing you there ...
