Following on the heels of Josh Boger's Vertex presentation, albeit in a much bigger room, came Art Levinson of Genentech. There has been much speculation about Roche and Genentech deal going down at this conference but Art had something else he wanted to point out to JP Morgan - he pointed out the error in JP Morgan's DNA image used prolifically in the conference collateral - JP Morgan's DNA helix does not exist in nature!
Basically, it is back to front - a left-handed helix. No matter what you do with DNA, and in this industry they do just about everything possible - it remains a right-hand helix. Unfortunately JP Morgan got it backwards, showing industry representatives with a collective market cap of 1/3 trillion dollars a DNA strand that is as wrong as can be. Some red faces within the JP Morgan conference staff for sure but all in good cheer...
