April is Parkinson's Awareness Month
Posted by David Mickle on April 13, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Zoomedia is proud to help support the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF) during Parkinson’s Awareness month. Throughout April, we encourage you to download their comprehensive 36-page outreach toolkit to learn about ways you can spread the word, too! The kit contains everything you need to launch a media campaign by yourself or with your company’s support.

PDF’s initiatives are an example of the growing sophistication of non-profit online communication programs. Many non-profits are harnessing the Internet as an effective and relatively inexpensive channel to do much of their outreach and recruiting heavy lifting. Leveraging the social networks of supporters through sites such as Facebook is a fast way to build awareness.

For example, PDF’s Facebook presence has over 3,000 fans and an active wall with several posts each day. If only 200 of PDF’s fan base engage each month, and their subsequent friends are informed of the activity, the exposures could range from 1,000-10,000 per month depending on the size of the friend base.

Zoomedia supports the PDF’s campaign to raise awareness, build community, increase the support network, and drive demand for new treatments for the one million people living with Parkinson’s Disease in the United States alone. Please join us and contribute to the PDF’s challenge fundraiser supporting scientific research.
